Cause and Effect

Babies learn by cause and effect, which means that they must repeat things over and over to learn that they will get the same result every time. For example, if a baby drops a bowl off of the high chair, it will fall to the floor. Once the bowl gets put back on the high chair, the baby may drop it again to see if it will once again fall, and do so until it is convinced that this is just what happens. Also, repeated actions can cause connections between nerve cells in the brain to strengthen. This helps the child to become coordinated faster.
